Over 30 years of combined financial experience
Meridian Surplus Partners was founded on a simple observation: county and court accounts across the country are holding money that belongs to ordinary people who were never told about it.
Our team brings over 30 years of combined experience in the financial industry — spanning banking, mortgage servicing, lending, title and records research, and asset management. We have spent our careers on the paperwork side of property and money: reading payoff statements, reconciling ledgers, tracing chain of title and understanding exactly how funds move between institutions, courts and people.
That experience matters here because surplus funds recovery is not a sales business — it is a documentation business. When a property is sold at a tax sale or foreclosure auction for more than the debt owed against it, the difference does not belong to the lender or the county. It belongs to the former owner, and after them, to their heirs. But it is only released to someone who can prove who they are, prove their interest in the property, and satisfy every requirement in the county's claim procedure before the statutory deadline runs out.
Most people never learn the money exists. Notices go to an address they no longer live at. The letters they do receive read like collection mail and get thrown away. Meanwhile the claim window — often one to three years depending on the state — quietly closes, and the balance is escheated to the state or absorbed by the county.
We exist to close that gap. We identify surplus balances in county records, verify who is legally entitled to them, and take the claim from first phone call through disbursement. Our clients pay nothing out of pocket. Our fee is contingent: if we do not recover your funds, you owe us nothing. When we do recover them, our fee comes out of the proceeds and is capped by whatever the state permits.
Meridian Surplus Partners is an asset recovery firm, not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice, and where a claim requires a court order or a contested hearing, we coordinate with licensed counsel in that jurisdiction rather than pretending to replace them. Being clear about that boundary is part of how we earn trust with families who have already had a hard year.
How we work with claimants
Transparency first
You see the county record, the surplus amount and our fee in writing before you sign anything. No surprises at disbursement.
Procedure done right
Most claims fail on paperwork, not merit. We file to the county's exact standard — identity, chain of title, heirship and lien clearance included.
Respect for the situation
Behind every file is a family that lost a property. We communicate plainly, never pressure, and answer the questions you actually have.
Financial discipline
We come from banking, lending and asset management. That background is why our claims are documented like an underwriting file.
Let's look at your file
A file review costs nothing and takes one conversation.
